Childbirth Education is Very Important

A Touchy Subject | Ember, naturally

Stories like this one are the reason I teach natural childbirth classes; small towns with limited resources is why I have decided to make them available online. I have lots of resources available to share with my subscribers, as well as free pregnancy and birth consultations via Skype or email.

My Reason’s for Creating and Teaching Instinctive Birthing...

·     Empowerment: Education creates a space for growth, maturity, resources and support that makes parents stronger. The result is parents who are not weakened by circumstances, but instead moved to take responsibility and action toward resolution, growth and wellness.

·     Nutrition & Exercise: Well-nourished, active parents, having made the decision to choose a healthy lifestyle for them, are mindful to lead by example in order to educate their children.

·     Family Wellness is the end result of becoming a living example of natural, conscious living for their children, family and friends, while leaving a legacy for future generations.

Do you have unanswered questions? Ask your questions here about pregnancy, birth, newborn care, breastfeeding, circumcision, vaccine awareness and holistic family health and I will answer them.

Circumcision - Did you know...

The Foreskin...

       Is protective.

Produces moisturizer that keep the surface of the glans healthy.

      Provides defense against injury.

Allows the glans to develop normally.

      Is self-cleaning.

Plasma cells in the foreskin’s mucosal lining, secrete immunoglobulin,  antibodies that defend against infection.

Glands produce antibacterial and antiviral proteins called lysozyme, also found in tears and breast milk.

      Provides protection from STD’s.

Insures optimal protection of the urinary meatus (the opening of the glans  through which urine and semen flow) from contamination and bacterial invasion.

Babies excrete 300-500mg of oligosaccharides in their urine, which are passed to the child during breastfeeding, that protect them against UTI’s,  as well as infections in other parts of the body, and prevents virulent strains of E-Coli from adhering to the mucosal lining of the urinary tract, including the foreskin and glans.

The glans is meant to be an internal organ.
Why are we removing it?
Do we believe that God made a mistake?
What are your thoughts or questions about circumcision?

Pregnancy and prenatal depression: Are antidepressants the answer? - Slate Magazine

Pregnancy and prenatal depression: Are antidepressants the answer? - Slate Magazine

Great information with links to cited articles and studies...

"Doctors and midwives should listen to their patients and be open to the idea that they may need some kind of treatment for depression. Whether a woman would be better served by antidepressants, acupuncture, talk therapy, or any other non-medication treatment is deeply idiosyncratic—and there shouldn’t be an immediate prejudice against any option." ~Quoted from the article

I would like to emphasize that it is important to discuss the natural options first with your care giver as all drugs have potential side effects and adverse reactions for you and baby. Do your research and be prepared to ask educated questions. If you feel overwhelmed after discussing it with them initially, here are a few suggestions for you to consider: asking if you can think about it, maybe even request more information on the options they are suggesting and make another appointment to go back and talk with them again if needed.
